Statistics show that 1 in 3 family pets will become lost and 90% are never recovered. It only takes a second for a puppy to slip out an open door or gate and can be heart wrenching to discover your faithful friend and companion is missing. We love our puppies and cannot imagine the thought that any one of them may end up in a shelter or worse, euthanized because their family cannot be located. We feel it’s our responsibility as breeders to give our puppies the best possible start in life.
If your pet gets lost and is taken to an animal shelter or veterinarian, they will scan the microchip to read its unique ID code. This is the number used to identify the pet and retrieve your contact information, which is used to contact you and reunite you with your pet. Visual tags often become lost, misplaced, or obsolete. The microchip is a permanent form of identification that will stay with your puppy forever.
You simply enroll your pet in the animal recovery program for a very small lifetime fee (approximately $20). The National registration services provide 24 hour worldwide pet identification. When a puppy is found that has been microchipped, the registration service is contacted, and within minutes, a pet can be identified.
What are microchips?
A microchip is a permanent ID that will last your pets entire lifetime. A microchip is a tiny transponder about the size of a grain of rice. It has a unique identification number programmed into it. It is small enough to fit inside a hypodermic needle and is simply injected under the skin between the shoulder blades. The process is similar to a routine shot, takes only a few seconds, and your pet will not react any more than he would to a vaccination.
It is read by passing a microchip scanner over the pets shoulder blades. The scanner emits a low radio frequency that provides the power necessary to transmit the microchips unique cat or dog ID code and positively identify the pet.
The microchip is a “passive electronic device”. This means that the chip itself does not give out any sort of electronic activity on its own. Once implanted, the microchip remains inactive until read by a scanner. The brand of microchip we use is the only microchipping product on the market today that has the Bio-Bond patented anti-migration feature to help ensure that the microchip will stay in place so that it may be easily located and scanned.
